Overall, the numbers of all five types of vehicles registered increased over the period shown. It’s clear from the table that passenger vehicles has been used widely in Australia, therefore the register are always highest from 2010 to 2014. In addition, motorcycles witness the highest growth in all categories.
In 2010, 11.8 million passenger vehicles were registered, while the figure for commercial ones was significantly lower at 2.3 million. Task 2: Today, TV channels provide men’s sport shows more than women’s sports shows. Why? Should TV channels give equal time for women’s sport and men’s sport?
In today’s TV shows, one of the most interesting and well-known genre for people is sports. However, instead of presenting equal amount for men’s sports shows and women’s sports shows, TV programmers tend to increase air time for men’s sports shows. The reason and further discussion of this phenomenon will be addressed in this essay.
The reason why women’s sports shows are fewer than men’s sports shows is based on two characters: the participants and the viewers. It’s undeniably true that men is stronger than women so they play sport better than women. Men have the tendency to involve in sports that is physically demanding, which attracts more viewers because those sports are enticing to watch, especially when the players score a goal. For example, men play sports that highly demand strength such as baseball, weightlifting and American football. Although women do play these sports but because of the weaker strength, a women’s sport show seem to not attractive as men’s ones. Moreover, the viewers of sports shows are usually men, while women prefer soap opera, reality shows or game shows.
Although providing equal time for both shows does encourage the women’s sports shows, considered the positive and negative effect, I still stand on the other side. Due to all of the reason above, I strongly believe that we should not provide equally time for men’s sports and women’s sports. If people provide equal time for both shows and the viewers are not interested in women’s ones, they will not continue watching the shows and as a result, the view rate decreases and a huge amount of money is wasted.
In conclusion, women’s sports shows are fewer than men’s sports shows has its own reasons. And people should not change the situation which only makes thing worse.
