IELTS SPEAKING: New topic of 2020

TIPS: PARAPHRASING THE QUESTION, TRY NOT TO USE THE WORD THE EXAMINER USED.

Part 2: Describe a time when you were sleep but had to stay awake.

Given the fact that I have a very bad case of procrastination tendency, I often find myself working against the clock. And this has somehow taken the toll on my sleep routine. When I was in my sophomore in high school, I fell asleep during one of my very important final exams which was unfortunate. Again, my procrastination syndrome was to blame for the whole mishap. So, I participated in an organization where I was chose to become a Programmer, so my job is very basic, I have to organize a plan for a workshop of the organization. So that night was the deadline, I had to give in a plan for an up-coming workshop but at the time, I was going to have a test on the next day. I was really panic. You know, I should have done my task for my organization earlier so that that night, I just spent the time learning for the exam. But because, I want to be a professional person in my organization so I chose to finish both things, which took lots of my time. I remember I finished the plan at 11 o’ clock and then started to cram for the test. I had to burn the midnight oil. It was the first all-nighter I’d ever pulled in my live. As a result, the next morning when I woke up, feeling cranky and disorientated because of a sleepless night. So before leaving for school, I had to chug down a whole can of energy drink in and attempt the keep myself awake during the exam. But anyway, I passed the exam. But definitely, it’s something I hope I’d never have to go through again.

Part 3: Stay awake

1.On what occasion do people need to keep awake, even when they’re tired?

I think it would be difficult the categorize them separately, so I’m just gonna list out a few. So the first that jump up into my mind is social events, right? Celebrities and politicians, they are always on the go and the need to keep up appearances might wear them out eventually. And I think inefficient time management might also be attributable to this trend. Because if you don’t finish your workload on time, it’s natural that you’ll have to put in more hours and you’ll sacrifice your sleep in the process.

2.How do people keep awake when they’re tired?

I think it goes without saying that the best defense against excessive sleepiness is caffein. This is a substance most commonly found in tea or coffee and it’s said to make you awake and give you a heightened sense of alertness to your surroundings.

3.Why do people feel tired a lot nowadays ?

There are thousands of reasons for this phenomenon: Stress in study, keeping up at work, taking care for the family,.. Take me as an example, I am now working my fingers to the bone in order to get into a good university in the future. Or my mom and dad, they really have to work hard to keep pace with the generation Z. You know, with the growth of technology, the youth are always faster in approaching it, so my mom and dad have to always broaden their horizon, catch up with the trend in order to not to be made redundant. All of these problems really make our family tired and don’t have time for each other like in the past.
