The chart compares the amount of money that five different organizations invested in machine, building, staff training and research.

It is clear from the graph that the amount of money that each company spends in different categories varies from one to another. What stands out from the chart is that organization B tends to spend a lot more money than the others to enhance its quality.

When it comes to machinery, while organization C seems to care a lot about this issue and spends almost 1.3 billion euros in this categories, company E invests just about two third, at approximately 0.8 billion euros for machine. In building, Organization A spends the most amount of money in the chart, at about 1.5 billion euros. In contrast, Organization C,D,E coincidentally invests only two third of this amount, at about 1 billion euros.

For staff training and research, Organization B spends a significant amount of money to develop its customer services, making these investments the highest in the graph, at nearly 1.9 billion euros as opposed to 1.6 billion euros. On the contrary, Organization D has a different viewpoint, they spend the least money in staff training and research, only 0.7 and 0.6 billion euros respectively .

Task 2: Some people believe that reading stories from a book is better than watching TV or playing computer games for children. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, with the growth of technology especially in televisions and computer games, many children do not realize the importance of reading books. This has many deplorable effects on kids. Bearing this in mind, I totally agree with the statement that reading books is better than watching TV or playing computer games for various reasons.

When it comes to the benefits of reading, it is undeniably true that reading has a positive impact on children’s mind. Not only does it develop children’s critical reading skill but it also enhances their imagination. Through stories from book, a child can learn new lessons and absorb information about the world around them. Unlike TV programs or computer games, books do not have images and therefore children have to imagine what they are reading in their mind. As a result, they are more creative and adventurous than those who do not read books. Furthermore, reading is not easily obsessed like watching TV or playing computer games. Parents can allocate the time for children to read books and do exercises to develop not only their mental health but also their physical health.

Some people might say that TV or games also have advantages, I agree. However, the disadvantages seem to outweigh them. First of all, watching TV and playing video games is very attractive, not only to children but also adults. They can easily make children become a couch potato, which is very bad for their health. Children that spend time watching TV and playing computer games all day tend to have a lot of psychological and physical issue such as autism, near-sighted, obesity, violence and hypersensitivity. For example, my cousin has two kids; they really love watching TV and the result is both of them are now nearsighted at a very young age.

In conclusion, I strongly advocate that parents should not let kids watch TV or play games too much. Instead, they should help kids get in the habit of reading books, which will bring them a lot of advantages in the future.
