Một số mẹo nhỏ cho phần writing SAT mà bạn nên nhớ.
1.Shorter is better
Không phải ở câu nào cũng đúng tuy nhiên hầu hết ở những câu về cấu trúc trong bài writing của SAT bạn đều có thể áp dụng mẹo này. Tuy nhiên đây chỉ là mẹo thôi, bạn không thể phụ thuộc hoàn toàn vào nó mà còn phải thuộc hết những cấu trúc của phần writing.
2.Comma before/after a preposition = WRONG
INCORRECT: Ada Lovelace was one of the most influential figures, in the history of computer and science. => Ada Lovelace was one of the most influential figures in the history of computer and science.
3.Colon = list or explanation; must follow a full sentence
Ex:I like many healthy foods: carrots, broccoli, apples, spinach and oranges.
4.Than = comparison; Then = next
Ex: Lawmakers would then turn their attention to a financial regulatory overhaul, and then pick up where they left off on health care vs Getting excited about my wedding rather than my marriage was a red flag.
5.Keep verb tense consistent
In ancient Greek, there was a king named Midas. He had a lot of gold and everything he needed. He also had a beautiful daughter. Midas loved his gold very much, but he loved his daughter more than his riches.
6.Singular verbs end in -s; plural verbs do not
This book belongs to me.
7. List items must be parallel, e.g., noun, noun, noun
I have lived in a few states: Alabama, Kansas, Colorado and California.
8.Underline NOT & EXCEPT

How to fix a COMMA SPLICE ERROR
Option 1: Change the comma into a period ( . ) Option 2: Add a conjunction. RIGHT:Teddy loves stuffed bears, and his collection includes fifty-four specimens. RIGHT:Because Alex cooks his brownies with lard, they taste great. Option 3: Use a semicolon in place of the comma. RIGHT:Teddy loves stuffed bears; his collection includes fifty-four specimens. RIGHT:Alex cooks his brownies with lard; they taste great.
11. 2 commas = 2 dashes = 2 parentheses
Ex: Sitting at dinner that night, Finn— usually a talkative chap—refused to answer a single question about his day. Sitting at dinner that night, Finn, usually a talkative chap, refused to answer a single question about his day.
12. Its, their = possessive; it’s = it is; they’re = they are; there = place
Ex: It’s (it is) nearly the end of the month. It’s (it has) gone really quickly. Every house in the street has got its own garage.
13. Period = Semicolon = Comma + and/but
My name is John; her name is Mary. = My name is John.Her name is Mary. = My name is John, and her name is Mary.
14.ADD/DELETE/REVISE: is the information on- or off-topic?
